Reinstalling Dial-Up
Networking
Print this page and keep it with your Windows CD because
you won't be able to access the Internet if you're having trouble with Dial-Up Networking
Note: You may be required to insert your Windows 95/98 CD while
making changes, it's a good idea to have this CD available before beginning this process.
- Close all applications
- Double-Click on My Computer
- Double-Click on Control Panel
- Double-Click on Add/Remove Programs
- Click on Windows Setup tab
- Double-Click on Communications
- Uncheck Dial-Up Networking (You may be asked about removing
other applications dependent on Dial-Up Networking, it's OK to remove them)
- Click OK
- Click on Apply
- Double-Click on Communications again
- Check Dial-Up Networking
- Click OK
- Click on Apply (This is where you may be prompted for your Windows
95/98 CD) - It will take a couple of minutes for your computer to copy files
- Click OK
At this time you may be prompted to Restart your Computer. It is not necessary at
this point to do so.
Installing TCP/IP Driver
- From the Control Panel Double-Click on Network
- Check to see if there is a TCP/IP Listed
- If there is a TCP/IP Close all Windows and Restart
your Computer and ignore the rest of these steps
- If there's not a TCP/IP
- Click on the Add button
- Click on Protocol
- Click on Add
- Click on Microsoft
- Click on TCP/IP
- Click OK
- Click OK
- Restart your Computer when prompted
- After Windows Restarts you may close any open windows
